3D Gallery

At WAMware we are very keen on the potential for Internet/Intranet access to 3D mathematical models. We have prepared this 3D Gallery as an experiment to illustrate the benefits of this direct access to 3D data. Please provide us with any and all feedback that you might have. We have also removed copyrights to the 3D Gallery pages... so feel free to use these pages as templates for your own 3D part and assembly galleries.

VRML Files of 3D Models

The following are VRML files of 3D solid models created in I-DEAS Master Series. If your browser supports embedded VRML, you can use this page that displays the VRML models in line.

For either IE4 or Netscape, we suggest for better quality 3D viewing that you download the free Cosmo Player Version 2.0.

With Netscape Navigator you can tell if your browser is already VRML enabled by checking... Help, About-Plugins. You are already VRML enabled if you see something like:

Mime Type Description Suffixes Enabled
x-world/x-vrml VRML Worlds wrl Yes

If you are not already enabled, you can quickly and easily download VRML plugins from a variety of sources, including:

bulletLive3D is a plugin integral to a complete Netscape Navigator installation [Windows 95, Windows NT; Unix in development]
bulletWIRL is a plugin available for installation with either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer [Windows 95, Windows NT; Unix in development]
bulletCosmo Player is a result of SGI's Webspace effort. [Windows 95, Windows NT, and SGI Irix]
bulletModel Viewer is a Netscape helper application provided by HP. [HP-UX]
bulletVRweb is a VRML 1.0 browser supplied by Graz University of Technology, Austria. [virtually all UNIX, LINUX, Windows 95/NT]
bulletVRwave is a VRML 2.0 browser plugin [various operating systems, including Sun].

If you are wanting to view VRML files created in I-DEAS Master Series 5 or higher, make certain that your browser plugin supports VRML version 2.0 or higher.

There is also work underway at DesignNet to allow VRML capture of I-DEAS FE models and results.
