Wayne founded WAMware Ltd. in 1996 to provide management consulting to major companies worldwide in their strategic implementation of CAD/CAM/CAE, PLM and related product development processes. He has been retained by end-user companies and software suppliers... including such market leaders as Sony, Siemens, Bose and Lucent.
Wayne also provides presentation and demonstration skills training to sales teams both within and outside the engineering software industry, having trained over two thousand sales and application engineers at dozens of workshops throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.
Wayne is a business and marketing advisor to ECS GmbH of Neumarkt, Germany, a 40 person company devoted to development of PDM/PLM software and implementation services.
Prior to founding WAMware, Wayne McClelland contributed
significantly to the growth of SDRC in several management,
technical, and marketing capacities. At the time of its
acquisition by EDS in 2001, SDRC was a leading supplier of high-end
CAD/CAM/CAE and PDM software, with 2500 employees and a market cap
of $900M. Highlights of his 25 year career with SDRC include:
As an SDRC
Executive Team member, Wayne was the primary owner and
ambassador for the SDRC CAD/CAM/CAE product line (80% of total
SDRC revenue) and directly responsible for its technical and
business success. Leveraging direct user involvement in
the 300+ person development effort, the I-DEAS Master Series was
heralded as a technological leap forward in the mechanical
design automation marketplace. Wayne led the development
and marketing launch of this ambitious and successful product.
The product line includes market leading capabilities for solid
modeling, mechanism design, finite element modeling and
analysis, structural optimization, drafting, manufacturing, test
data analysis, and workgroup product data management. Wayne held
positions as Vice President, Product Management and Vice
President, Product Planning and was responsible for the planning
and marketing of all SDRC software products. Under Wayne's
product leadership, SDRC annual software revenues grew twenty
fold to over $200M and SDRC captured a leading market and
technology position in computer-aided design, manufacturing, and
engineering.
Wayne was lead executive on SDRC's
first acquisition, the $30M purchase in 1995 of Camax, the
leading supplier of dedicated software for numerical control
part programming. Wayne also served
as Vice President, Major Accounts Marketing, responsible for the
establishment and management of partnerships with a select
number of worldwide strategic clients, including Siemens, Nokia,
Lockheed, Sony, and Nissan. Through these partnerships
SDRC derived valuable insight into future requirements and
specifications for its software products. Wayne was also
director of software research and development for SDRC solid
modeling and finite element activities. During this
assignment, SDRC successfully developed and launched first
releases of its solid modeling and integrated mechanical CAE
offerings. Wayne founded the
first SDRC remote full service operation and was responsible for
building SDRC Western Region consulting and software activities.
He also founded and managed SDRC's German subsidiary and
maintains professional fluency in the German language as well as
a keen understanding of the international marketplace. Wayne began his
career with SDRC developing and managing consulting activities
in system dynamics and was instrumental in establishing SDRC's
renowned expertise in structural vibrations and vehicle ride
quality.
Transom Inc., board member 1997-1998. Transom developed
and marketed software for the simulation of human body mechanics
as applied to design of end products (automobiles, construction
equipment) and manufacturing work cells. Wayne was lead
board member on the successful sale of Transom to Engineering
Automation Inc (EAI) in 1998. EAI in turn was later
purchased by EDS.
