Using Paint Shop Pro for Graphics Editing

There are a number of reasonable graphics editing programs on the market, one of these being the shareware program, Paint Shop Pro from JASC.  You can obtain evaluation and purchase ($99) copies of Paint Shop Pro at http://www.jasc.com/products/psp/.  Other good graphics programs include Microsoft PhotoDraw and Adobe Photoshop.

In this brief article we'll document how to do some basic image manipulation using Paint Shop Pro.

File, Open... select the desired image to edit

Cropping

select the Crop icon

bullet

then click/drag out an area on the image that you want to keep

you can adjust this area by moving the mouse near the edges of the area, and then pull out/in

then double-click within this area to complete the crop

Rotating

from the Menu Bar... Image, Rotate... right, left or enter an angle

Adjust Brightness/Contrast

from the Menu Bar... Color, Adjust, Brightness/Contrast

enter new values or use the sliders to change brightness and contrast

remember that you can always... Edit, Undo

Note:  you may first want to try... Effects, Enhance Photo, Auto Contrast

of course, when you like the new image... File, Save
